PURPOSE OF THE POLICY

To establish and outline priorities, best practices and procedures to ensure public safety for snow removal and ice control on streets, roadways and within the Village of South River.

POLICY STATEMENT

The goal of the Policy on Snow Clearing and Ice Control is to maintain the Village’s streets, roadways and sidewalks in such a manner so as to:

1. Provide safe and accessible operating condition for motorists and pedestrians;

2. Reduce the hazards of icy road conditions;

3. Minimize economic losses to the Village resulting from unsatisfactory winter driving conditions;

4. Facilitate the handling of emergencies by Police, Fire and Ambulance services during the winter
