A Special Weather Statement is currently in effect for the South River - Burk's Falls area. Residents are advised to prepare for a potentially significant spring ice storm. Freezing rain is expected to result in notable ice accretion, which may lead to hazardous conditions, including extended utility outages, slippery surfaces, and broken tree branches.
What to Expect:

Significant ice accretion from freezing rain (5 to 15 mm, possibly exceeding 20 mm)

Accumulation of snow and ice pellets (5 to 15 cm possible)

Additional Information:
Environment Canada reports increasing confidence in a widespread and prolonged freezing rain event across portions of southern and northeastern Ontario. Areas of greatest concern extend from Sault Ste. Marie southeast through Parry Sound to Kingston. A temporary break in the freezing rain is anticipated late Saturday before a second round begins. Warnings will be issued as the event approaches.
