Press Release Friday May 29, 2026
The Village of South River has completed the sale of a municipally owned property at 281 HWY 124, formerly home to the Tourist Information Centre, to its tenant, South River Scoops n More.
Council is pleased to support Scoops n More as a successful incubator business that has quickly grown into a popular local destination. Their success adds to South River’s vibrant food scene, alongside established favourites such as Wong’s Delight Restaurant, Sherri’s Diner, South River Chip Stand, NAISA Café, Jessies Kwik Way and the recently opened Turtle Joes Coffee to Go and Cheat Day Café.
The Village extends its sincere congratulations to Lisa Levesque, her family, and the entire South River Scoops n More team on this tremendous achievement.
The transfer of this property back to the private sector after 25 years represents a positive step in strengthening the local economy. It reflects the Village’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and ensuring municipal assets are used in ways that generate ongoing community and economic value.
As visitor behavior continues to evolve in the age of smartphones, online resources, and artificial intelligence, traditional tourist information services have become less central. In contrast, unique local experiences—such as quality dining destinations—remain a key driver in attracting visitors and supporting economic growth in South River.
